Introduction

social hosing for clients

Nationwide is highly respected as a specialist in the successful delivery of large partnering and framework agreements, all with the ultimate aim to work with registered social landlords to raise the standards of housing. We provide a complete window and door manufacturing and installation service that not only supports the Decent Homes and Welsh Quality Standard initiatives, but are also closely involved in other public sector and social housing initiatives and frameworks. Clients include Nottingham City Homes, North Warwickshire Borough Council , Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust , Oxford City Homes , Tamworth Borough Council , St Albans District Council, Bron Afon Community Housing, Cartrefi Conwy and Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd

A decent home should be for the many, not the few. But this must be a shared endeavor. Central government is today setting a bolder framework for the future, but we will only achieve our goals if those at regional and local levels, in the public, private and third sectors, and in local communities, all play their part in supporting the homes we need. Building the sustainable homes needed by young people today and future generations is a test of our commitment to supporting people's aspirations and to achieving social justice.Yvette Cooper, Minister for Housing and Planning (July 2007)

Nationwide and the Decent Homes Standard

According to Government, 'A decent Home is one which is wind and weather tight, warm and has modern facilities'. The Government made it their priority to reverse the decades of neglect and this standard was to be the cornerstone for improving people's quality of life in the home.e should be warm, weatherproof and have reasonably modern facilities.
The aim of the standard is to bring all social housing into decent condition and to increase the proportion of private housing in decent condition occupied by vulnerable groups. Since 2001 the number of non-decent homes in the social housing sector has been reduced by over 50 per cent. Working closely with clients, Nationwide ensures that all areas of partnering including open book, health & safety, compliance, quality and tenant satisfaction are transparent and accountable.

Nationwide and the Welsh Housing Quality Standard

The Welsh Assembly Government believes that everyone in Wales should have the opportunity to live in a good quality home within a safe and secure community. To help achieve this, the physical standard and condition of existing housing must be maintained and improved to the Welsh Housing Quality Standard. Nationwide has delivered many housing improvement projects across Wales working with many of the country’s leading social landlords and local authorities.
